Romelle is a contemporary artist from Detroit, currently based in Mexico City. Her work is a vibrant exploration of color, material, and mixed-media techniques. With a background in abstraction and muralism, she incorporates bold applications of spray paint, neon, and machine-stitched canvas. These nontraditional materials reflect an aesthetic shaped by graffiti and the physical and cultural textures of her surroundings.
Shaped by her time in Detroit and, more recently, Mexico, Romelle’s work engages themes of place, transition, and community. Through material experimentation and process-based making, she explores deeper forms of healing, connection and renewal.
